Why Roots & Wings?
In Their Own Words
What Roots & Wings Provides
We moved here when my daughter was just six months old. I didn't know anyone. Some days I wouldn't talk to another adult until my partner got home at night. I kept wondering — is this just what parenting feels like?
We read every book and watched every video before our daughter was born. But when real life kicked in, none of it quite prepared us. The most useful things we learned came from other parents who had simply been through it — not from any textbook.
My son is shy and found it hard to make friends at school. I watched him sit on the sidelines at birthday parties and it broke my heart. I didn't know where to find the right environment for him.
As an international student with a newborn, I had no idea what support was available to us here. Food assistance, library programs, community resources — I only found out because another mom mentioned it in passing. I was too embarrassed to ask, and honestly, I didn't know who to ask.
